Legal Note: I am not associated with Sketchup and these videos are for education/information purposes. Please feel free to share this Instructable or video links on your social networks! I use Sketchup for all my small off-grid house designs and I have many of these house designs on my youtube channel for ideas and plans available on my website. You can create 3D models to display your designs and even create a walk through or 3D models for games. If you enjoy designing stuff Sketchup is an excellent program and with the housebuilder module you can do a framing model so you can see how the structure is constructed and estimate material costs. Sketchup is fairly easy to master once you understand the basic commands. I recommend you have Sketchup installed and open as you follow these lessons and pause the video and try each command as you go along. If you are building a structure or mechanical device it really helps to create a 3D visual model first and use that as your design plans and that allows you to make changes and see problems before wasting money and time in the actual construction process.

#HOUSE DESIGN SKETCHUP HOW TO#
start now with the optimization process in designPH and refine the project directly in PHPP.This is a series of 5 videos that will teach you how to design any small or large structure that could be used for a house, workshop, shed, house-on-wheels or other purpose. check your project on PH suitability - with the 3-click export to PHPP

put your project into the right light - consider and check your specificationsĤ. put your project at the right place - you choose the location of your projectĭirectly in SketchUp and the relating climate out of a database in designPHģ.

Use with minor adaptations an already existingĢ. put your project into the virtual space - create your SketchUp 3D model or This allows you to refine the design before exporting, facilitating a more effective iterative design process, and rule out poorly performing design options early on.ĭesignPH facilitates the preliminary designing and energetically optimized design in only 4 steps:ġ. designPH also provides a preliminary simplified energy balance when the analysis process runs.

This enables a result for specific space heat demand to be calculated quickly using default values, potentially saving significant time.ĭesignPH is an iterative design tool. After importing a model to PHPP, the primary inputs on the Areas, Windows & Shading sheets will be mostly complete. Surfaces are given a colour-code so that it is possible to visually verify in the 3D model that all the heat-loss surfaces have been correctly taken into account.ĭesignPH is a 3D interface for PHPP. The plugin provides an automatic analysis algorithm which can infer element types and area groups.
#HOUSE DESIGN SKETCHUP SOFTWARE#
Online purchase available now from ĭesignPH is a plugin for the popular 3D design software SketchUp.ĭesignPH is the new, interactive and graphically oriented input interface for PHPP.ĭesignPH has been developed by the Passive House Institute to provide a 3D modelling interface that works together with PHPP (Passive House Planning Package).ĭesignPH gives quick results using automatic analysis.
